Just when it seemed CD Projekt Red had finally wrapped up development on Cyberpunk 2077, the studio has delivered yet another substantial free update. Timed alongside the premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II on Netflix, Patch 2.5 brings a wave of anime-inspired content, long-awaited features, and unexpected mechanical additions to Night City.
Following a detailed REDstreams broadcast, the update is going live across current-generation platforms, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release expected to follow shortly after.

A Prequel Quest to Edgerunners Season 2
The headline addition for story enthusiasts is “Clampdown,” a brand-new side quest designed as a direct prequel to the second season of Edgerunners. The mission features appearances from show characters, complete with voice acting from the anime’s official cast.
To access the quest, players must complete “The Heist” alongside two gigs for Wakako Okada, after which she will reach out via text message. Completing “Clampdown” rewards V with a unique five-piece gear set based on the character King. Players can also tune into a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, which features music spanning both seasons of the anime series.
This is what we’re most excited for, naturally. Our second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 is relatively early in the story, but we’re ready to get the text from Wakako, so booting-up if going to be fun.

Cross-Platform Mods Arrive on Consoles
In one of the patch’s biggest technical milestones, official cross-platform mod support is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Mac, powered by a partnership with mod.io. Console players of Cyberpunk 2077 can now search for, download, and manage player-created mods directly from an in-game menu.
CD Projekt Red has noted that while options will expand over time, players should be cautious about installing too many mods simultaneously to prevent performance instability. Furthermore, console save files utilising active mods will have achievements and trophies disabled, with distinct icons marking modded saves in the load menu.

Dual-Wielding, Cyberware Skins, and Richard Night
Patch 2.5 introduces several substantial gameplay and cosmetic additions:
Dual-Wielding Pistols: A new perk named “Double Trouble” has been added to the Cool skill tree, unlocking the ability to dual-wield Power-category pistols and revolvers. The addition comes with auxiliary perks, dedicated combat animations, and new Photo Mode poses.
This is really exciting, and a massive change to Cyberpunk 2077. It’s fun, and something we’re definitely going to explore.
Cyberware Customization: Players can now visit five specialized “Glamdocs” across Night City to apply 40 new cosmetic skins and colour variations to V’s equipped arm cyberware, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System.
Neccessary? Probably not. Cool? Hell yes!
Lore and Tarot Cards: A new narrative-focused quest offers a guided historical tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night, unlocking after “The Heist” at 15 Street Cred. Additionally, 12 Minor Arcana Tarot Cards have been hidden across the map, expanding the “Fool on the Hill” collection questline.
Expanded Wardrobe: Five new full clothing sets (Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, IconAmerica, and NUS Infiltrator) are now available at city vendors, alongside NPC-exclusive hairstyles and former Twitch drop items added directly to the base game.
Just adding some depth and more creative flair shows how far Cyberpunk 2077 has come. CD Projekt Red are just flexing now.

Performance Upgrades
On the technical front, update 2.5 introduces support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, offering up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, as well as MetalFX Frame Interpolation for Mac users.
Console players gain access to a long-requested Field of View (FOV) slider, alongside improved HDR colour calibration and targeted PlayStation 5 Pro performance optimisations.
Cyberpunk 2077
Wow, what a turn-around story it’s been for Cyberpunk 2077. From a very traumatic launch, to version 2.5 just adding quality of life improvements across multiple platforms. Adding more, free content, and just giving us more reasons to head back to Night City.
