A psychic inversion wave is hitting Marvel SNAP. The September 2026 season, themed Axis: Inversion, turns morality on its head as heroes turn villainous and villains find a conscience.
Here is a a quick breakdown of the Season Pass cards, new characters, upcoming locations, game modes, and rewards arriving throughout the month.
We’ve only really just gotten done with Fractured Frontiers, but now we’re getting ready for Axis: Inversion. Second Dinner are really going at a solid pace to push change and keep the game thriving. Axis: Inversion looks to be the next step in doing so, especially so soon after Draft Mode was released, as well.
Season Pass Cards & Variants
All new seasons come with a new pass, with new cards, that kind of function as the lynchpin of the changing meta. Axis: Inversion is no different. With a new Iron Man and a new Magneto. These aren’t just art variants, these are new cards, with new takes on the characters. This season’s key art and pass items feature artwork by Dardo Studios.
Superior Iron Man (5 Cost, 7 Power)
Ability: Double Cost reductions to this. Ongoing: Double Power increases to this.
Anti-Polar Magneto (6 Cost, 9 Power)
Ability: On Reveal: Add a 3 or 4-Cost card from your hand to each other location.
These two feel like some game-changers, both ongoing and on reveal decks can get a bit of a shake-up. Magneto is going to need some sensible deck building around it to make sure you have the right cards in your hand to cause upset at the end of a match. Superior Iron Man feels like a solid choice for a boost-based deck.
Axis: Inversion is going to be interesting, for sure.
New Characters & Inverted Roster
Twisted reflections of familiar Marvel characters will enter through Seasonal SNAP Packs and special events throughout September:

New Locations
We’ll get some new locations in Axis: Inversion, too. As is always the case in a new season. So you’re not just on the lookout for meta-shifting and deck building. You’re looking at your lanes to make sure you’re getting the most, or not being impacted detrimentally.
- Stark Island (Premieres Sept 9): End of Turn: Give a card in each hand -1 Cost.
- Jean Grey School (Premieres Sept 23): On turn 5, cards here are Moveable.
Stark Island will be huge for Superior Iron Man. That’s going to reduce his cost by 2 if he’s in your hand and it’s picked.
21-Day Login Calendar & Free Decks
From September 7 to September 29, a daily login calendar offers Credits, Mystery Variants, Mystery Borders, and Boosters. This is straight off the back of the current login rewards, too. So Second Dinner are really pushing hard to get everyone in a good spot and level the playing field.
Highlight rewards include two complete, free decks:
- Mister Negative Deck: Built around deck inversion mechanics.
- Victoria Hand Deck: Built around card generation buff strategies.
(Note: Base card versions are included; duplicate owned cards award Boosters as a fallback).
Events & Mode Schedule
As always, the season is littered with some event modes. With rewards and a chance to mix things up a bit from just usual ranked play. These are usually a welcome break (I do detest grinding Team Clash, though….).
Here are the events in the Axis: Inversion season.
- Draft Mode Continuation: Sept 1–8 (Shop open through Sept 10)
- Team Clash: Sept 16–23
- Inverted Draft (Sanctum Scoring): Sept 28 – Oct 12
- Weekend Events: High Voltage (Sept 10–14), 3-Day Grand Arena (Sept 25–28).
- New Albums: Dark Dimension “Glow Big or Go Home” (Sept 8) & Bronze Age “Cover Me Shocked” (Sept 22).
Axis: Inversion
Here we go again! Another season, another shift in the meta, and more options and decks than ever before. With free decks and cards being given away, it feels like Second Dinner are trying to get as many people as possible on a relatively even base-level playing field. It’s a big push, and a tough task. But it seems to me that there are some other significant shifts on the way.
We’re along for the ride with Marvel SNAP and this season is just another of more to come. Axis: Inversion will be interesting. But I would suggest we’re on the verge of some more significant developments in the future.
