JuJutsu Kaisen Modulo gets an Animated Trailer

JuJutsu Kaisen Modulo

It’s time to head back to 2086 as the sequel manga reaches its climax. While the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga may have wrapped up its legendary run back in 2024, Gege Akutami’s world has stayed very much alive through the spin-off sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

Today marks a bittersweet milestone for fans as the third and final volume hits shelves in Japan, and Studio MAPPA has stepped in to make sure it goes out with a bang.

To celebrate the release, MAPPA (the powerhouse studio behind the JJK anime, Chainsaw Man, and Hell’s Paradise) has released a gorgeous promo video (PV) that gives us our best look yet at what a JuJutsu Kaisen Modulo anime could actually look like.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

For those who haven’t kept up with the Shonen Jump deep cuts, JuJutsu Kaisen Modulo is a short-run sequel set 68 years after the events of the Culling Games.

It follows Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu. The grandchildren of Yuta and Maki, as they navigate a futuristic Japan that has become the Cursed Energy capital of the world.

The story takes a wild turn into sci-fi territory with the arrival of the Simurians, an alien race that can also wield Jujutsu. It’s been a fascinating, experimental shift for the franchise, and this final volume concludes the three-tankōbon run.

MAPPA Working Their Magic

The new promo video, while only 30 seconds long, is a concentrated dose of MAPPA’s signature high-octane style. It features key moments from the manga’s climax, brought to life by animators Sota Yamazaki and Yurika Nakanishi, names you might recognize for their stellar work on the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 “Culling Games” arc.

The trailer perfectly captures the melancholic, neon-soaked aesthetic of 2086 in JuJutsu Kaisen Modulo. Showcasing the Okkotsu siblings in action alongside the alien diplomat Maru.

Is an Anime Adaptation Coming?

The million-dollar question: Does this mean a full Modulo anime is in the works?

Currently, there’s no official confirmation. MAPPA is still knee-deep in the main Jujutsu Kaisen series, with the Culling Games arc still being adapted. However, given how well this promo has been received—and the fact that Modulo is only three volumes long—it would make for a perfect limited series or a high-budget movie once the main story concludes.

For now, we’ll have to satisfy ourselves with the manga. If you’re a fan of the JJK mythos and want to see how the Okkotsu legacy continues, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a must-read.

JuJutsu Kaisen

It’s been a great time to be a fan of JJK for quite a while now, and with the first half of thew Culling Game anime wrapped-up. Something like this promo video is a lovely little morsel to enjoy as we wait for more.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is ending, but in truth, we’ve not even started it yet. Now with the potential for it to be animated after the core series, we’re likely to be eating good for a long time.

If you’ve not started JuJutsu Kaisen yet there’s never been a better time. It’s one of our all-time favourites and this little promo is a great way to show what’s in-store. MAPPA do a great job, some of the best work in all current anime. Get on it, and enjoy!

Make sure to watch from the start, and maybe re-watch, and read guides to keep up with some bits. Remember that Season 2 can feel quite taxing, too. An excellent watch, but at times it feels hopeless. I’ve never watched an anime that make me feel the way that JuJutsu Kaisen has over the past few years. It’s just one of the best series from top to bottom.
