One of our favourite Elusive Targets in Hitman from recent years, was ”The Disruptor”. There were issues….not with the game, but with the star. So now it’s been re-worked as The Wizard, and features Wiz Khalifa. Announced and released on Friday at Summer Game Fest.
Its lined-up in our Steam downloads ready to review. But let’s look at what The Wizard is, on paper. And quickly reflect on The Disruptor.
The Wizard
In the new Elusive Target mission, revealed during Summer Games Fest, Agent 47 is tasked with the elimination of Taylor Graves.
Nicknamed “The Wizard” for his seemingly alchemic touch. Everything he pursued, fighting or finance, turned to gold.
Originally a star boxer, he became fascinated by eastern philosophy, which led to being introduced to the world of Muay Thai. With his buried rage, the brutality of the sport enticed him, and he proved himself a worthy fighter.
He has been invited to attend a duel at the Ark Society’s headquarters on the Isle of Sgail. His opponent is fellow Ark Society member Tim Quinn, CEO of Quantum Leap.
Agent 47’s mission is to do everything in his power to keep Quinn safe and stop Graves from “winning the fight”.
The mission revisits a familiar location and setting, built around a completely new character, and new dialogues and elements.

The Disruptor
IO Interactive, the studio behind the popular Hitman series, announced the end of its collaboration with MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
The decision followed a court ruling in which McGregor was ordered to pay damages for assaulting a woman who had accused him of rape.
McGregor appeared in Hitman World of Assassination as a limited-time Elusive Target called “The Disruptor.”
IO Interactive removed all content featuring McGregor’s likeness and voiceover work from its storefronts, including the Elusive Target mission and a DLC pack that provided permanent access to The Disruptor content.
The studio emphasised the seriousness of the situation and its commitment to addressing the implications of the court ruling.

The difference
There’s no doubt that IO Interactive have done more than just re-skin the antagonist here. Even from the trailer, you can see there’s plenty more to it.
It’s a shame that more people don’t get the opportunity to assassinate Conor McGregor. Let’s be honest. But the setup and staging for The Wizard is too good to not go to and enjoy.
We’ll see what’s different about The Wizard compared to The Disruptor, and report back asap!
In fact, you can probably find us on Twitch live streaming our attempt at The Wizard sometime soon.
Truth is, we love Hitman, and all new Elusive Targets are an instant purchase for us. No doubt the quality and execution of The Wizard will be worth the £4 entry fee.
